UPAL Sarna sarees are handwoven with thick low count cotton in Mayurbhanj district. The Santhal tribals forming a vast chunk of Odisha’s tribal population, wear these check sarees. The organic cotton feels warm in winter and cool in summer. Various tribal motifs are embroidered into these sarees like arrow, duck, child, man, shield, flower, deer etc., as the tribals live closely with Nature. To weave a single saree, it takes about three days. While the original Santhal Sarees are 5 metre long and 38 inches width, nowadays 5.50 metre long and 1.15metre width sarees being specially made. So, proudly flaunt a Santhal saree and be one of the Nature-loving tribe!
Information
(1) The colors of the actual product may look slightly different due to different screens used for viewing the digital photography captured.
(2) There may be loose threads on the backside of pallu of saree, which is a mark of true handwoven and handloom saree.
(3) The slight irregularities in the body/anchal/border of saree are to be celebrated as a mark of true handloom products.
(4) Wash Care: We advise dry cleaning for the silk/Cotton sarees and handwashing separately in cold water along with drying in shade for our cotton products.
Iron Care: Light iron to be used. For pattachitra hand painted items, please iron only on backside. Otherwise use a cotton cloth on top of the painted parts while ironing.
